J+D selected as industry partners to work with the IT University of Copenhagen

J+D have been selected as industry partners to work with the IT University of Copenhagen on a project to develop a new, innovative forecasting software solution using Agile scrum methodology.

Our technical team will be working in collaboration with the students and department leaders of the Industrial Software Engineering MSc course for their placement in industry ahead of their final examinations. The aim of this project is for the students to develop a new market research and forecasting tool, with the end goal of J+D adopting the software into their portfolio of products.

After a stringent matchmaking process, J+D were selected from around 20 industry applicants for the project, providing a great opportunity for the company as well as the students. The experience will allow this group of aspiring software developers to gain invaluable insights and experience in the industry, as well as contribute positively to their personal career development. Whilst it also allows J+D to invest in the potential future generation of software engineering minds.

Junior developer on the project, Mikkel Bistrup Andersen is excited about taking part:

“Me and the rest of the team are very proud to be partnered with J+D Forecasting and helping them with their projects for the next 4 months. I’m really looking forward to this project and I can't wait to see what challenges arise as part of the journey”

Established in 1999, the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is Denmark’s leading university focusing on IT research and education, delivering state-of-the-art teaching and research within computer science, business IT and digital design. Driven by intellectual creativity and critical thinking, the university collaborates closely with industry, the public sector and international researchers and is characterized by a strong entrepreneurial spirit among students as well as researchers.

The aforementioned software, part of the partnership outcomes, will be a web-based application designed for automated analysis of the health market and to predict changes in market share. The project with J+D will run for 4 months and will contribute to the students achieving their Master of Science degree qualification, dependant, of course, on successful final exam results.

Stefano Driussi, J+D’s Engineering Lead says:

"It’s fantastic to be able to create a learning environment where students will be able to apply the software engineering skills they have learnt so far and provide the ability to learn new ones. The project team will experience common technical and non-technical challenges intrinsic to software development projects and collaborate to drive the tool towards commercial launch. We are keen to see the outputs."

We look forward to sharing updates on the development of the project and to working with the student team at the IT University of Copenhagen, to support their future in tech. https://en.itu.dk/
